Reader question: Can you tell us what is being built behind the A&W Restaurant in Neenah? No one seems to know.

Answer: Neenah’s plan commission records show D&D Car Wash submitted a plan to build at 1190 Westowne Drive. That’s the property between A&W and a strip mall. Walgreens is on its north side. The largest nearby intersection is Winneconne Avenue and Tullar Road.

Reader question: I see there are trees being cleared and a large Keller Builds sign up on land next to Beefeaters British Grille on Evergreen Drive in North Appleton. Something new coming?

Answer: Appleton city records show it will be First Impressions, a dentistry office for children. First Impressions’ website, fidkids.com, lists nine current pediatric dental clinics in northeastern and central Wisconsin. This new location is expected to open by summer.

Reader question: I was curious to see if you’ve heard what is being built near Larry’s Piggly Wiggly in Kaukauna, right off CE. There seems to be a lot of construction signs, but nothing saying what’s going up.

Answer: It will be a Dollar Tree, according to Kaukauna city records.

The retailer is putting three new locations in the Fox Cities right now. In addition to Kaukauna, it opened a Dollar Tree last Thursday at 133 W. Main St., in Little Chute. Another is taking shape at 127 S. Memorial Drive, near College Avenue. That’s the former Furniture Deals & Steals building.

The retailer has existing stores in Grand Chute, Neenah, Menasha and Darboy.

Dollartree.com lists jobs for the coming Kaukauna location as well as positions for all current and future Fox Cities stores.

Reader question: Wondering if you know what is being built across the street from the Menasha post office?

Answer: It’s a Jimmy John’s sub shop at 87 Racine St.

Reader question: What is going into that place where the tattoo shop was by 10th frame?

Answer: That’s Amano Prints & Threads, a business that does custom printing and embroidery on T-shirts, hats and other apparel items. It moved last month into that space, 634 W. Wisconsin Ave., just east of Richmond Street.

Amano is a spin-off from Blue Moon’s apparel printing business, and had previously been located inside Blue Moon in downtown Appleton. New owner Mia Russell had been the manager of the printing business when it was part of Blue Moon.

Amano does large and small orders, plus custom printing and embroidery on individual items, like blankets and backpacks.

“We have a gallery space in front that shows our work on paper and the work of local artists and artists from elsewhere,” she said.
