I'm A Celebrity 2018: Anne Hegerty delivers major shock for The Chase bosses
ITV producers have seen a whopping increase in ratings on The Chase since Anne entered the Australian jungle.
The Chase gained one million extra viewers after Anne gained a legion of new fans at the start of her I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! stint.
Viewers just can’t get enough of Anne on the reality show, so fans are flocking to watch her quizzing prowess in motion on the ITV quiz show.
Anne didn’t appear on The Chase last night, but tens of thousands still tuned in with the hope of catching a glimpse of the 60-year-old.
There were 4,900,300 million people watching The Chase last night at the peak of the show.
This was an increase of 900,000 compared to last Friday ahead of Anne’s first appearance on I’m a Celebrity.
Fellow chaser Mark Labbett said: “We just gained nearly a million viewers overnight.
“Pointless was down to 2.6million, which I think is the biggest gap we’ve ever had on them.
“Anne will be on some time this week and we could be setting record viewing figures if this isn’t a blip.”
Mark went on to add that host of The Chase, Bradley Walsh, would never follow in Anne’s footsteps and enter the jungle.
Mark continued: “Bradley loves watching I’m a Celebrity but he always says there aren’t enough zeros they could put on the cheque to tempt him.”
Anne has been open about her autism, pulling in heartfelt messages from new fans on social media for raising awareness to huge audiences.
Mark told The Sun how Anne will still be able to go to Sunday mass while in the camp.
The devout Catholic has already been seen praying a rosary for Emily Atack ahead of her Bushtucker Trial.
Mark said: “Anne is a devout Catholic so she has been allowed to take in a prayer book.
“On Sunday, off camera, she will have her own mass.
“She had a chat with her priest before she went out there to see what religious observances she could do in the jungle.”
Mark went on to say: “Asperger’s people like to plan as much as possible so they know what’s coming.
“The unknown is doubly scary for them. From experience I know Anne will have everything planned on any journey she’s going on.”
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm. I’m A Celebrity 2018 continues tonight on ITV at 9pm.
