The front porch is being replaced by an elevator and nearby parks or community open spaces are taking the place of the yard in two Sumner County communities.

That’s fine with home buyers attracted by the lock-and-leave lifestyle that comes with owning a home at the new Gatherings at Indian Lake condos in Hendersonville and the Revery Point condos in Gallatin.

In the time since Beazer Homes broke ground on the Gatherings at Indian Lake last October, hundreds of potential buyers have inquired about them. The development will have 54 condominium flats in four-story buildings.

Learn more at Live Well event

“Gatherings at Indian Lake has a growing interest list of 700-plus with vertical construction starting early this year in Hendersonville. We look forward to meeting home shoppers and being able to share more information with them during our Live Well events in the spring,” said Beazer Homes Division President Geoff Hart.

“These events are designed to give interested parties the chance to learn more about the homes and lifestyle offered while meeting potential neighbors,” he said.

Home shoppers can sign up for Gatherings’ VIP list at www.beazer.com, he said.

Gatherings is an active-adult community where residents must be 55 or older. The community offers a low-maintenance, lock-and-leave lifestyle that appeals to downsizers and others tired of keeping up a large house and lawn.

“The luxuries of a low-maintenance, single-floor home means you never have to cut your lawn, clean out the gutters or haul a vacuum up and down the stairs. Gatherings’ condominiums also make extended getaways less stressful, as entrances are access-controlled and exterior maintenance is included. These benefits reduce the barriers to lengthy travel, allowing residents to lock up, leave and live,” said Hart.

The development is located off Saundersville Road close to Hendersonville’s greenway, health services, shopping and dining. The Streets of Indian Lake shopping center is half a mile down the road. Cornerstone Primary Healthcare and TriStar Hendersonville are nearby.

Residents trade lawn work for relaxation

After years of owning a more than 5,000-square-foot house in Goodlettsville, Wanda Sloan is looking forward to the freedom of condo life. She and her husband Ed plan to move into their new Revery Point condo this spring.

Revery Point is part of Foxland Harbor, a growing golf community on Old Hickory Lake in Gallatin. The development will initially have 22 condo flats in four-story buildings with parking underneath. Buyers began snapping them up before construction began. Up to 30 more residences are planned, said Joe Godfrey, Foxland’s president.

Condos are “the future” for many homeowners, said Wanda Sloan.

Instead of house and lawn maintenance, the Sloans expect to spend more time on Old Hickory Lake, which is only steps from the door of their condo. Revery Point’s residents can join the Tennessee Grasslands Golf and Country Club and have access to the 18-hole golf courses, pools, restaurants and clubhouses at Foxland and at neighboring Fairvue Plantation.

Or, the couple can just relax. Instead of spending time maintaining a house and yard, they can sit back and enjoy the view of the lake from their new condo.
