Chelsea Handler invests in cannabis lifestyle company – Page Six

Chelsea Handler is getting with the (high) times.

The former talk show host has invested in cannabis lifestyle company Civilized after appearing at dozens of their events over the past year, the company announced this week. She was even named a keynote speaker at the World Cannabis Congress in 2018.

The activist and author, 44, has become an outspoken advocate of cannabis in recent years and even announced plans to grow her own line of marijuana.

“Cannabis has made a difference in my life, in the lives of my friends and people who have been reintroduced to it. Working with Civilized, I’ve seen how passionate they are about smashing outdated cannabis stereotypes while keeping people entertained, and it’s been a real inspiration,” said Handler in a statement. “It’s more than just a media company, it’s a movement. And one I’m proud to be a part of.”

An insider told Page Six that Handler will have “no specific role with the company” and future plans to work together again haven’t been set in stone yet.

“This investment is not tied to any specific work, but they are always open to collaborating together again in the future,” the source said.

Just last week, Handler appeared on the podcast “Bitch Sesh” and discussed her previously announced line of weed. She told the podcast co-hosts, Casey Wilson and Danielle Schneider, that she’s currently developing a strain that would cut women’s appetites. The line isn’t out yet.

“Everything is more tolerable when you’re a little bit stoned,” Handler gushed to them. People are less annoying. I can find joy in, like, the simplest things … “
