Supernatural Ending After Season 15 – IGN

Don’t you cry no more.

The CW’s wayward sons will carry on no more: Supernatural is ending after Season 15, stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins announced on social media Friday. Warner Bros. Television and The CW confirmed the news shortly after.

Executive producers Andrew Dabb and Robert Singer released a statement following the stars’ announcement: “Firstly, we would like to thank all the people who have been involved with the show both in front of and behind the camera. For us it has been an experience of a lifetime. The support we have had from both Warner Bros Television and The CW has been incredible. We’d like to give special thanks to Jensen, Jared and Misha for making this journey so special. It is now most important to us to give these characters that we love the send off they deserve.”

The news comes a couple of weeks after The CW announced that Arrow would end with a shortened Season 8, comprised of 10 episodes. Supernatural Season 15 will go out with 20 episodes, and is the longest-running sci-fi/genre series in the history of American broadcast television. According to The CW, Supernatural will have aired a total of 327 episodes when Season 15 comes to a close.

Supernatural has been around for so long that it actually predates The CW itself – the show launched on The WB network in 2005, and is the only surviving show from that era.
