Weekly Buzz: The Flyers Have Themselves a New Head Coach – Broad Street Buzz

This week’s serving of Broad Street Buzz content you might have missed.

We kicked off the week with a Philadelphia Flyers only three round 2019 NHL Mock Draft, because who doesn’t love to see mocks in the middle of April, right?

Continuing with our Remain or Remove series, Sean Couturier had himself another stellar season for the Orange and Black, making the decision in whether to keep him or not rather easy.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms just missed the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs, so we did a review of their 2018-19 campaign.

In a somewhat surprising move based on the timing of the announcement, the Flyers hired a new Head Coach in former New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, and Montreal Canadiens coach Alain Vigneault.

Morgan Frost and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds were eliminated from the OHL playoffs, so we asked what’s next for the young Flyers prospect?

We dove into the Flyers hiring of Vigneault and analyzed the type of system he runs.

Shayne Gostisbehere had a down year for Philadelphia offensively, but that doesn’t mean General Manager Chuck Fletcher should look to move the now 26-year-old defenseman.

In more Vigneault content, we examined his five-year tenure with the Rangers and how it compares to his current situation with the Flyers.

Isaac Ratcliffe and the Guelph Storm did the nearly unthinkable by advancing to the third round of the OHL Playoffs.

Philadelphia held an introductory press conference for Vigneault and here are a couple of thoughts on what the 57-year-old had to say.

Radko Gudas was the Flyers most consistent defenseman in his own zone this past season but could see himself moved as part of a trade package if Fletcher truly wants to upgrade at the defensemen or forward position.

Potential Flyers first round draft pick Cole Caufield has seen his stock rise with some great play through the week and could no longer be on the board when Philadelphia selects at 11.

Easter is here and we named three “eggs” Fletcher should hunt for this offseason.
