Brace yourselves, the Battle of Winterfell is coming. But before the Night King and his army of the dead arrive to utterly decimate the North’s forces (and our emotions), Game of Thrones delivered one of the loveliest episodes in series history with ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’. Filled with nods to the past, satisfying character beats, and plenty of wonderful dialogue scenes, the second episode of the final season also provided plenty of fuel for the fires of internet comedy.
From Brienne’s knighting to Dany’s complete misery at Winterfell, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ was full of prime material. Who won the game of memes this week? It’s a toss-up! Arya and Gendry certainly inspired a trend in their own right (even the great Sophie Turner got in on the viral train with an iconic reaction of her own,) and Podrick’s pipes almost stole the show, but I gotta give it up to Tormund for continuing his tradition of lighting up every scene he touches with wild energy and the best reaction faces in the biz. We’ve seen a lot of weird shit on this show, but I don’t think you can top Tormund Giantsbane’s origin story.
