Early Sunday, July 7, news broke that Disney star Cameron Boyce had passed away at the age of 20. According to a statement from a family spokesperson, Cameron “passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated.”

In the wake of his death, many celebrities have taken to social media to remember the actor, who was known for his starring role in the Descendants franchise, as well as appearing on the Disney Channel series Jessie. Skai Jackson, who starred on Jessie alongside Cameron, posted several photos of the actors together on screen and behind the scenes, writing on Instagram: “Cam, you were one of a kind. My heart will be forever broken. I am so happy that I got to spend almost everyday with you on set, you gave the best hugs. I wish I would have hugged you tighter when I saw you a couple of months ago. Thank you so much for being the big brother I never had.”

Charles Esten, who portrayed Cameron and Skai’s on-screen dad in Jessie, tweeted that he got to know Cameron well before his Disney days, back when the actor was in elementary school. “At his very 1st talent show, little Cameron’s dancing lit up the stage, and left everyone on their feet, cheering,” he wrote at the beginning of a Twitter thread remembering the actor. “It was clear to all that he was destined to be the star he would soon become…. It was a joy to work with him on Jessie, as it was with all the wonderful young stars of that beloved show. They were as close as actual brothers and sisters to one another, and still are, and my heart breaks for them today.”

Actor Kevin McHale tweeted that he’s “heartbroken for [Cameron’s] family, friends, and everyone who was impacted by him.” Jordan Fisher also weighed in with a message for Cameron, telling him: “Your laughter, compassion and heart for humanity will be forever missed.
