SLIPKNOT Is Working To ‘Determine Next Steps’ After Tour With METALLICA Is Postponed – BLABBERMOUTH.NET

SLIPKNOT is trying to find a way to play in Australia and New Zealand after the band’s previously announced run of dates with METALLICA was postponed.

Last night, METALLICA‘s tour of Australia and New Zealand was called off so that frontman James Hetfield could enter rehab to battle his addictions. The trek was slated to kick off on October 17 in Perth and was to include over 10 dates.

A short time after the postponement was announced, SLIPKNOT, which was due to open for METALLICA in Australia and New Zealand, told fans it was working on a solution while also offering words of support for Hetfield.

“To our Australian and New Zealand fans and family, we only recently heard the news about the tour being postponed, and we are working as quickly as possible to determine next steps,” SLIPKNOT wrote on social media. “We will let everyone know as soon as we are able.

“Of course, our thoughts are with James and METALLICA. We wish them nothing but the best.

“We hope to see you all very soon.”

Earlier this year, SLIPKNOT singer Corey Taylor told Rock Feed about the prospect of supporting METALLICA: “To me, it’s amazing that I can share that kind of stage with a band that I grew up idolizing — like, to me, that’s the greatest sense of accomplishment in a lot of ways. We were both going over there at the same time, and it came down to, ‘They’re gonna do arenas, we’re gonna do it.’ So it’s, like, ‘Wait a minute. What if we pair up and do stadiums?’ Something we’ve never done. I mean, we didn’t do that with METALLICA the first time it went, and they were massive. We’re talking, like, soccer stadiums, dude. So we jumped at it, we jumped at the chance to be able to basically go over to Australia and New Zealand for couple weeks and just enjoy it, do our thing with one of the bands that inspired us to be who we are.”

SLIPKNOT is continuing to tour in support of its latest album, “We Are Not Your Kind”, which came out in August.
