Mark Consuelos Talks Luke Perry Tribute, Reveals Hot Gossip on ‘Riverdale’ Co-Stars – TooFab
With the tribute episode for Luke Perry coming in this week’s season premiere of “Riverdale,” Mark Conseulos shared one of his favorite memories of his co-star with Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live.”
It wasn’t anything glamorous, just an afternoon out together bonding on a boat, but you could tell how meaningful it was for Mark and how cherished that memory is now that Luke is gone.
The actor, who plays Veronica’s ruthless father Hiram Lodge, also had no problem dishing on his teenage (ahem) co-stars on the popular CW drama, including revealing who’s willing to trash his style, who has the most people sliding into their DMs and who likes to party in their trailer. And those last two answers are not the same.

It turns out Madelaine Petsch, who plays Cheryl Blossom, is absolutely fearless when it comes to telling people what she thinks of their clothing choices. Mark also said she’s the most likely to reveal a spoiler about their show.
As for the resident party boy, while many might think it’s Archie himself, KJ Apa, Mark says it’s actually Charles Melton, who plays Riverdale bad boy Reggie Mantle.
That’s not to say he didn’t have plenty to dish about KJ, including that his co-star is unsurprisingly the one who gets the most people sliding into his DMs.
But his most hilarious answer came when Andy asked him who was most likely to let their real-life drama impact their mood while on the set. “Oh sweetie, can I pick like three people?” Mark answered back.
After some hesitation, where he tried to affirm “they’re all very professional” but you know he was remembering specific moments with specific people, Mark finally spilled the beans and threw three of his cast-mates under the bus … and it was the girls: Petsch, Lili Reinhart (Betty) and Camila Mendes (Veronica).

Probably his best answer on the night, though, was when a caller asked him how he and his wife Kelly Ripa have managed to stay stunningly gorgeous all these years, and without skipping a beat, Mark said with a straight face, “We have blood transfusions of 14 year olds.”
After assuring Andy and his audience that that was a joke, Mark offered up the real reason. “We’re smaller people, so our heart doesn’t have to work as much getting blood up and down.”
Okay, so maybe he didn’t have a real reason, but who knows how to answer the question of how you’re so hot? What do you do with that? You deflect with jokes, obviously.
It’s a good thing, though, that Mark and Kelly do work out and focus so much on their physical fitness because, as Andy hilariously pointed out, the writers of “Riverdale” didn’t have much trouble concocting a ridiculous plot that culminated in the adult Hiram Lodge (Consuelos) and Archie (Apa) oiling up and wrestling in singlets.

When asked if he thought there might be reason to slide into another siglet down the road, Mark had to let the caller down gently. “I think we’ve moved on from wrestling,” he said. “No more singlets.”
Not one to be deterred that quickly, super-producer Andy had some ideas of his own. “Are you gonna be in a speedo?” he asked, suggesting a swim team in the prison Mark’s character finds himself in.
“Maybe,” Mark said gamely. “That’s a good idea. The jail swim team.”
Okay, probably not, but you never know. Maybe the producers of the show are already trying to figure out a way to get Mark and KJ and maybe some of the other actors into their skimpiest swimwear for a race with the highest possible stakes of them all: ratings!
