The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker runtime has been officially confirmed. Fans of clock-busting blockbusters such as Avengers: Endgame and It: Chapter Two can rest easy – it’s the longest Star Wars movie ever. Below, we’ll run through just how it compares to the other ten Star Wars movies in terms of length.
AMC Theatres finally announced the much-anticipated Rise of Skywalker runtime on its website: 155 minutes (2 hours, 35 minutes).
Up until now, the previous longest Star Wars movie was Star Wars: The Last Jedi at 152 minutes. Not a great deal shorter than Rise of Skywalker, but those three minutes might mean everything.
Here are the series’ other runtimes:
- A New Hope – 121 minutes
- The Empire Strikes Back – 124 minutes
- Return of the Jedi – 131 minutes
- The Phantom Menace – 136 minutes
- Attack of the Clones – 142 minutes
- Revenge of the Sith – 140 minutes
- The Force Awakens – 138 minutes
- Rogue One – 133 minutes
- The Last Jedi – 152 minutes
- Solo – 135 minutes
If you want to crunch the numbers, every Star Wars film has been over two hours, but Rise of Skywalker will only be the second to go north of two hours and 30 minutes. And, yes, Attack of the Clones felt every second of its 142 minute runtime.
