Recently heard on MSNBC was a question posed to a news reporter at the LSU vs. Clemson game in New Orleans. “Did the Democrats recently lower the American flag to half mast over the death of Iranian General Soleimani?” When asked where such information came from, the answer was “Facebook.”
This time Fox News wasn’t responsible for misinformation or outright lies. No, this time it was America’s best friend and gossip center, “Facebook.” There’s an old saying that goes like this, “If it’s too good to be true, then it’s probably a lie.” The most fervent Republican may latch onto a story regarding the lowering of the American flag honoring an enemy. But isn’t that just a little bit too far fetched to be true?
Common sense is becoming a rare quality during these political turbulent days. The closer the impeachment trial of President Trump becomes a reality, the effort to discredit Democrats increases. Trying to separate the “Dung from the Shinola,” increases as all information sources strive to gain more listeners.
Sources of information should be scrutinized as much or more than analyzing a menu at a very expensive restaurant.
