Prosecutors rip Harvey Weinstein as a ‘sexual predator and a rapist’ at trial – Page Six

Harvey Weinstein wielded his power as Tinseltown’s top producer to become one of its most prolific sexual predators, prosecutors claimed Wednesday as his highly anticipated trial got underway.

The fallen filmmaker, 67, faces up to life in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting three women — production assistant Mimi Haleyi in 2006, “The Sopranos” actress Annabella Sciorra sometime in 1993 or 1994 and a third, unnamed woman in 2013.

“During this trial, you are going to learn that the defendant was a savvy, New York City businessman, that he was a famous and powerful Hollywood producer living a lavish lifestyle that most of us will never know and you’ll come to learn most of us will not want to know,” Assistant District Attorney Meghan Hast told the 12 jurors as she delivered her opening statements in Manhattan Supreme Court.

“That man was a sexual predator and a rapist.”

“Different women from different places, decades apart with the same crime,” she added, as Weinstein — who earlier entered the courtroom without the use of his usual walker — shook his head from the defense table.

“They will each describe to you their fear, their shame and their humiliation that they each wrestled with following the violent encounters with the defendant … each feeling small and insignificant, no match for the powerbroker of Hollywood,” Hast continued.

The prosecutor then gave jurors a step-by-step of how each sexual assault allegedly unfolded — and how the fallen filmmaker preyed on each woman by first offering plum opportunities to work with him.

“The defendant knew he was preying on the naive and inexperienced,” said Hast. “These were not mutual adult relationships. These young women were pawns being pushed around by the defendant.”

After offering Sciorra, a young actress from Brooklyn, a part in one of his productions in the early 1990s, Weinstein allegedly forced his way inside her Gramercy Park apartment and forced himself on her, Hast said.

“He pinned her arms above her head and despite her verbal and physical attempts to stop him, he continued to hold her down, inserted his penis into her vagina and raped her,” the prosecutor said, before adding that Weinstein then forcibly performed oral sex on Sciorra.

Weinstein also allegedly forcibly performed oral sex on Haleyi years later in 2006 — even going as far as yanking out her tampon.

“Miriam started to realize that he wasn’t going to take no for an answer,” said Hast. “She started to realize she was going to get raped … with no way out.”

At the time, Haleyi was working for another filmmaker when she met Weinstein at a film festival in London in 2004. The young PA eventually got work through Weinstein on the set of “Project Runway,” which was produced by the Weinstein Company.

“Miriam reached out to the defendant to thank him for the opportunity,” Hast said. “Unbeknownst to her, she had passed another test.”

For the first time, the prosecutor accused Weinstein of raping Haleyi in a later incident inside a hotel room in Los Angeles.

The third unnamed victim — described as a wannabe actress from a small dairy town — met Weinstein at a Hollywood party in 2013, Hast said.

Soon after, he promised her and her friend that he had lead parts for them in a movie.

“This reality was a ruse to get these young women into his bed,” Hast said.

Weinstein and the third victim embarked on a brief relationship — that allegedly culminated in him twice raping her at a Manhattan hotel that same year.

“He grabbed her and began to physically undress her,” said Hast.

The prosecutor said after the encounter, the victim noticed a needle in the garbage can — and realized Weinstein had allegedly injected his penis with medication to get an erection.

The second alleged rape was also at a hotel after the victim told Weinstein she had a boyfriend.
