Travis Konecny Has Solid Showing At 2020 NHL All-Star Game by Benjamin Gabrych

This week’s serving of Philadelphia Flyers news and notes from around the web.

The Philadelphia Flyers had one game to play prior to the 2020 All-Star Break getting underway and eventually came away with the W, shutting out the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0. The Flyers shut out the Penguins, isn’t that so much fun to say?

Steve made his usual round of observations following the dominant win over the Pens and asked which Flyers team we’re going to get through the second half of the season. (BSB)

Flyers contributor Bill Meltzer gave out midseason awards for players who’ve performed well through the year’s first half, with a couple of them being mildly surprising. (NHL.com)

Speaking of midseason awards, the Pro Hockey Writers of America voted on who they think has the edge in several individual trophy races, and Sean Couturier had the lead over names like Patrice Bergeron and Ryan O’Reilly for the Selke. (NBC Sports Philadelphia)

A couple of members of the Flyers gave their opinions on who some of the more skilled players on the roster are, with most of their answers being relatively consistent with each other. (Philadelphia Inquirer)

Ariel took a look at how Brian Elliott‘s been performing in between the pipes recently and folks, it’s safe to say he’s been pretty darn impressive since becoming the consensus starter with Carter Hart on the sidelines. (BSB)

Gritty is being investigated by the Philadelphia Police for allegedly punching a 13-year-old boy in the back at a photo op. Whether you believe the story or not, I think we can all agree that this is the most Philadelphia thing ever to happen. (Philadelphia Inquirer)

And finally, Travis Konecny had himself a solid debut at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game in St. Louis. (BSB)
