It’s not all bleak.

Mostly, but not completely.

A quick look back at developments this week:

•Hobby Lobby, Joann Fabrics and Michaels were closed by Grand Chute police on Wednesday morning. After getting clarification from Gov. Tony Evers’ office on “essential” businesses, the stores were told to remain closed.

•Mateo’s, a family restaurant in Waupun, plans to open a branch in Kaukauna in the next few days, according to its Facebook page. It will offer only carry-out and delivery to start in accordance with state “Safer at Home” guidelines. The restaurant is at 215 W. Wisconsin Ave., in the former Rico’s. •Butch’s Pizza in Kimberly stopped offering carry-out operations because it couldn’t keep a safe distance between employees in its kitchen.

“We are eagerly awaiting a reopening when life is back to some form of normal,” owners Mike and Missy DuFrane said in an email.

•The Pawffee Shop Cat Cafe in Grand Chute ceased curbside coffee and bakery take-out. It sent its kitties to the Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary until it can fully reopen.

“We can’t wait to get back to normal,” said co-owner Leah Enking.

She’s applying for small business aid programs and figuring out how to pay the rent. Customers can help by buying tumblers and T-shirts online, she said.

•Stores made more changes, like shortened hours or limits on the number or ages of people who can enter stores, to cope with COVID-19.

Menards, for example, said no one under age 16 is allowed in its stores. Costco limited access to two people per membership card and shortened weeknight hours to 6:30 p.m.

•Restaurants added or eliminated curbside delivery: See an updated list here.

•Mai’s Deli in Appleton has shut for 14 days. Its staff answered an online message asking if it the closure had been done to quarantine. “Due to business declining, we have decided to use this time to work on some internal business improvements and small renovations. None of our employees have COVID-19,” they responded.
