Ronan Keating and wife Storm rule out having more children after welcoming daughter Coco – OK! magazine

Back in 2000, it was Ronan Keating who warned us that “life is a roller-coaster, just gotta ride it,”and 20 years later, his words couldn’t be more apt.

Just days after the UK went into lockdown amid the coronavirus crisis, Ronan, 43, and his wife Storm, 38, welcomed their beautiful daughter Coco, with the doting dad hoping her safe arrival would “spread some good cheer” at this time.

The couple are already parents to three-year-old son Cooper, who plays a starring role in the video for Ronan’s new track, Little Thing Called Love.

The former Boyzone star is also dad to Jack, 21, Missy, 19, and 14-year-old Ali from his previous marriage, and the trio acted as best man, maid of honour and flower girl when their dad and Storm tied the knot back in 2015.

Ronan says fatherhood helps keep him grounded and being apart from his older children during isolation has been a challenge.

Here, the Magic Breakfast show host tells OK! magazine how Coco is settling in and why Cooper is a “one-take wonder”…

How is little Coco getting along?

She’s doing great, thanks. We’re very lucky that she’s got into a really good sleeping pattern, so fingers crossed that doesn’t change.

Have there been any challenges welcoming a new baby during a pandemic?

The hardest thing is not being able to introduce her and share her arrival with the rest of the family. Hopefully it won’t be too long now before she can meet everyone.

What’s the biggest lesson fatherhood has taught you?

I think your kids are great at keeping your feet on the ground. When you get home and shut the door, I’m just like any other dad joining in with the madness of looking after a baby and a toddler. I’m a big kid myself.

Cooper stars in the music video for Little Thing Called Love. How was it filming that with him?

It was great! He is a natural, a one-take wonder. It was a family effort with Storm helping to direct and Cooper playing a starring role. I’m glad that, using social distancing, we were able to make a video that will stand the test of time.

Does Cooper understand what his dad does for a job?

Cooper is only three, so at that age all you want is your kids to be having fun and keeping healthy. He likes to try and join in when I’m on the radio as I’ve been doing my Magic Breakfast show from home during lockdown.

What inspired the song?

I wrote this song about Storm and I living in two different hemispheres but wanting to be together. But at the time, the song was just missing something. While I was working on the new album, Twenty Twenty, the song popped up again and, with some more work and a fresh set of ears, it came to life. We obviously find ourselves in a very different world right now and among all the understandable worry and uncertainty, I think everyone can appreciate the sentiment in the song.

Some of your fans share the things that make them happy in the video. When are you at your happiest?

I’m at my happiest when I’m at home with my family. With the arrival of Coco, it’s been a very special time these last couple of months. But it’s been tough that my older kids have not been with us all due to the lockdown.

How have you found lockdown in general?

It has been a difficult time for everyone but as a family we have tried to focus on the positives. For me to be at home for these first few months with Coco and watch her develop and be part of it all has been very special. Thankfully we’ve all stayed healthy and have not had any real hardships. Like everyone else, we’ve missed socialising with family and friends, but it’s been great to see everyone pull together to get through these very strange times.

Would you and Storm like any more little ones?

We’re blessed to have little Coco and Cooper along with Jack, Missy and Ali. Everyone is happy and healthy so I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Little Thing Called Love is out now. Ronan’s new album Twenty Twenty is out on 24 July on Decca Records.
