‘Harry Potter’ same-sex couple
J.K. Rowling is shedding more light on Albus Dumbledore, claiming the “Harry Potter” character had a same-sex relationship with Gellert Grindelwald. “There is a sexual dimension to this relationship,” she says in the newly released Blu-ray and DVD of “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.” It’s never mentioned in the books or the films, but Rowling has previously said Dumbledore is gay.
“It was passionate, and it was a love relationship,” the famed author and outspoken LGBTQ rights supporter says, according to Vulture. “I’m less interested in the sexual side – though I believe there is a sexual dimension to this relationship – than I am in the sense of the emotions they felt for each other, which ultimately is the most fascinating thing about all human relationships.”
Rowling’s comments sparked controversy, as some accused her of changing characters after publication, while others wanted to know more about the wizards’ alleged backstories. But there is a “Fantastic Beasts 3” in the works, tentatively hitting theaters in 2021, so maybe we’ll see more between Johnny Depp’s Grindelwald and Jude Law’s young Dumbledore.
Mama June arrested
Former “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” star Mama June Shannon has been arrested for drug possession at an Alabama gas station, Deadline reports. The mother Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson faces charges on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, while her boyfriend Geno Doak was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and domestic violence. “Honey Boo Boo,” a spinoff of TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras,” was canceled when Shannon began dating a registered sex offender; she’s since rebounded after losing 300 pounds and getting her own reality show “From Not to Hot.” In Friday’s season 3 premiere, she revealed she may be pregnant with Doak’s child.
