Fresh Expressions, a gift shop at 1011 W. College Ave. in Appleton, will close at the end of the year.

Beth and Carl Rippl opened the shop in 2014, and are now planning to retire.

Beth said they patterned Fresh Expressions after gift shops in Door County, and stocked things like garden art, rugs, birdhouses, baskets, jewelry and socks. They had local, artisan-made accessories, home decor and beads, a carry-over from their predecessor in the space, Glass Onion.

The shop is west of downtown Appleton in an old house, which the couple will put up for sale.

“Opening the shop had been on my bucket list of things to do,” Beth said. “We have been very blessed and fortunate to be able to fulfill the dream for almost six years and now it is time to move on to other fun things to do while we are still young enough to do them.”

The shop’s 20 to 40 percent off sale begins today.

See freshexpressionsllc.com or Facebook for sale updates.
