Valley College 4-H
WOOSTER — On April 14, Valley College 4-H Club held a meeting on zoom for the first time. We had 24 4-H members and three advisers attend. We talked about what things are going to be virtual instead of in-person this year like maybe the 4-H camp, showmanship and activities for our club. So, since we are not allowed to go to the fair and be in-person for sheep and goats people are going to send in pictures and a scrapie tag number, for pigs people are going to go to Centerra Co-Op in Wooster to get tags for fair. Also, to be really kind we are making letters and cards to show support and encouragement for the Wooster Hospital and schools in the area. For the Wooster Community Hospital we are going to make a basket to give to them.
Members did two papers, one was a Welcome to 4-H and the other one was a clover and we had to design it with one of the four words (Health, Hands, Heart and Head) so we could use them to decorate our 4-H booth in September. Next week we are able to do a demonstration on our projects on a Facebook Live or on our zoom meeting.
On April 28 Valley College 4-H club had a zoom meeting with 20 4-H members and two advisers. One thing we heard was there is showmanship all week for all animals. We went over new business and old business. Since the 4-H camp this year is canceled they are doing T-shirts to purchase and the 4-H club is going to order some of the shirts for the members that want one.
We did a paper about money. The paper talked about six places to keep your money (bank, piggy bank, wallet, safe, under your bed and books), the safest place to keep your money, what a bank is, where our family bank is, if our family has a saving account or checking account or both, what the difference is between a savings and checking account, can you get more money by having money in a bank, and last but not least, what is interest. Then we had a sheet for homework and we had to answer the questions.
May 14 was again a zoom meeting. Braxton White led the Pledge of Allegiance and Clay White led the 4-H pledge.
We shared how our projects are doing and there were a few that were brave to share. At the end of the meeting we went over our Money worksheet from the previous meeting.
