The Buzz: Five construction sites rise in Grand Chute – Post-Crescent

Reader question: There’s lot of construction around Costco/Menards in Grand Chute. Three different sites. Any word on any? There is one in front of Menards, one next to the Restore and one across the street from Menards next to the apartment complexes.

Answer: Some of these are long-term projects just now coming to fruition.

I’ve written about them in past columns, but in some instances it was almost a year ago.

It’s a good time for a recap.

• The site in front of Menards will be AutoZone.

The auto parts store first submitted a proposal for its new building a year ago, and just got its building permit this March. The construction site is at 5150 W. Integrity Way close to McCarthy Road.

• The building rising next to Habitat Restore is Pizza Ranch.

Its future address is 5450 Integrity Way, which is the road running between Habitat Restore and Costco’s parking lot.

Pizza Ranch’s original site plan was on a plan commission agenda last July, but it didn’t apply for its building permit until this April.

It will be the second Pizza Ranch in the Fox Cities. The first has been operating for several years on the other side of town, in Darboy.

This new branch, ready around October, will be adjusted to accommodate new practices under COVID-19 hygiene guidelines. One measure under discussion, for example, is having a staff member serve at the buffet rather than allowing customers to touch serving utensils.

• The third project you mention is a long, single-floor building in front of the apartments. This is a senior assisted living facility called Silverstone Memory Care at 5100 W. Schroth Lane.

The 44-unit building’s rezoning and site plan were approved by the town in November.

More construction

Two more projects also just received building permits this spring in Grand Chute.

• Jiffy Lube is at 3202 W. College Ave. It’s mid-block between the Clarion Inn (formerly known as the Best Western Midway or the Midway Motor Lodge) on its east side and Badger State Staffing and Les Stumpf’s used car lot on the west side.

It submitted its site plan for redevelopment of the property last September, and over the last few months it demolished existing buildings on the site.

• Jersey Mike’s Subs got its building permit in May. It took the former World of Beer/Bennigan’s spot at 149 Mall Drive, in the same building as Five Guys.
