I'm A Celebrity 2018: Anne Hegerty's co-star urges star to 'take herself out' if needed

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! welcomed The Chase star Anne Hegerty into ITV’s jungle last week.

And while the chaser has taken the quiz world by storm, she struggled to keep her cool during last night’s Bushtucker trial.

Anne was locked in an upright glass box and was tasked with unlocking a series of padlocks to acquire her stars.

This was then made much harder as various bugs and substances were dropped on top of her.

Eventually Anne decided to bow out of the trial and go back to camp with two stars.

Today’s edition of This Morning saw Anne’s The Chase colleague Jenny Ryan arrive on the show to discuss what happened.

Jenny called the episode a “very hard watch”, but admitted she was pleased Anne left the trial.

She said: “I’m so glad she noticed she was getting overwhelmed and how tricky the situation was.”

On whether Anne would last in the show, she explained: “I hope she lasts as long as she feels she’s capable of doing.

“I hope she puts herself first and removes herself from the situation [if she needs to].”

Jenny went on to call Anne “determined” and was pleased she had been working to spread the word about ASD.

However she did go on to warn Anne to “stay away from the cooking”, adding she is “not a domestic goddess”.

Earlier Anne’s colleague Shaun Wallace arrived on Lorraine to discuss the chaser’s appearance on the competition as well.

On her campmates he explained: “They warm to her because you’re seeing the human side of Anne.

“It must be very difficult to cope with that condition in an environment thats totally out of her comfort zone.

“You can ask no more than that. She’s trying her very very best and I hope her efforts will take her all the way.”

He went on to say that, although her trial was difficult, he wouldn’t have had a problem with it.

Shaun continued: “If you took out the rats – they’re my bug-bear – but anything else…

“What I just saw there [with Anne’s trial] would be a walk in the park.”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! continues tonight at 9pm on ITV, while This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
