Jason Momoa shaves his beard: ‘Goodbye Khal Drogo’ – Page Six

Jason Momoa is ready for a huge change.

The “Aquaman” actor, 39, drove fans into a frenzy on Wednesday when he posted a video on YouTube of himself shaving his rugged beard for the first time since 2012.

True to form, Momoa isn’t simply ridding himself of his most recognizable look because of the end of “Game of Thrones,” like co-star Kit Harington (though he does bid goodbye to his character, Khal Drogo in the video). The Hawaiian actor pulled the stunt as a way to signify a “change for the better” and encourage people to stop using plastic bottles.

“I just want to do this to bring awareness. Plastics are killing our planet,” he said while taking a razor to the scruffy beard in the middle of a polluted desert in Jordan.

Fans immediately had mixed reaction to Momoa’s new look. “Well done guys, first you destroyed the planet and now you destroy Jason Momoa’s beard. I don’t know which is worse. Shame on you all,” one person tweeted. “Okay. I’ll drink any water you want, grow it back please!,” another agreed.

He also revealed that he has developed his own brand of aluminum cans filled with flat water, sparkling water and alkaline water.

“It’s time to make a change. A change for the better…for my kids, your kids, the world. Let’s make a positive change for the health of our planet,” he captioned the video. “Let’s clean up our oceans our land. Join me on this journey. Let’s make the switch to infinitely recyclable aluminum. Water in cans, not plastic.”

We’ll see what wife Lisa Bonet has to say about the newly clean-shaven face.

Jason Momoa hasn't touched his beard since 2012, but was inspired to make the change as a call for global recycling.
