Of course, Taylor Swift rallied her nearest and dearest for her next music video. After dropping the second single, “You Need To Calm Down”, from her forthcoming album, Lover on June 14, the musician has since taken to Instagram to reveal details about the accompanying video coming our way, with a whole host of celebrities set to make cameos.

From Ellen DeGeneres to the Fab Five from Queer Eye, many familiar faces will grace the new brightly coloured video. Due to premiere on June 17, the song throws its support behind LGBT+ rights and GLADD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation). Taking to Instagram, Queer Eye’s Antoni Porowski showed his gratitude for being part of the video, writing: “Thank you, Taylor Swift for not only this song but for letting us be a part of it.” In a similar vein, Ellen DeGeneres also took to Twitter to share her appreciation, writing: “My friend Taylor Swift asked me to be in her new music video, “You Need To Calm Down”. It premieres tomorrow! Now I need to calm down.” And Billy Porter also joined in on the action.

The song’s release comes after Swift recently penned an open letter to Republican state senator Lamar Alexander about Tennessee’s Equality Act, encouraging him to support the bill: “While we have so much to celebrate, we also have a great distance to go before everyone in this country is truly treated equally.”

Swift also made a surprise appearance at the Stonewall Inn in New York City on June 14 for Pride Month. The bar was holding an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall uprising.

In a video posted on Twitter by Beats 1 last week, which coincided with the release, the singer explained the meaning behind the song: “I’ve observed a lot of different people in our society who put so much energy and effort into negativity and it made me feel like, ‘you need to just calm down’.”

Now, let’s await the impending drop…
