Championship gossip: Leeds United handed two major boosts, Bristol City battle for star – LancsLive

Preston North End may have made their first significant signing of the summer – but that isn’t the case across the league.

Patrick Bauer is a PNE player – and the Lilywhites fought off significant competition to land that signature.

There is competition elsewhere as Cardiff and Leeds battle it out with Wigan and Millwall for Portsmouth star Jamal Lowe.

Hull and Bristol City are also looking to make moves.

All the latest gossip from the Championship is below.

Cardiff and Leeds offered transfer boost

Cardiff City and Leeds United have been handed a major transfer boost in their bids to land target Jamal Lowe.

The two Championship rivals plus Wigan Athletic and Millwall are all fighting to land the 24-year-old.

Lowe impressed during the 2018/19 season as he bagged 15 goals in League One, with Portsmouth making the play-offs.

But they couldn’t secure promotion and now Sky Sports are reporting that the striker has told the club he wants to leave.

Leeds ‘target’ wants move

Sticking with Leeds and Marcelo Bielsa has reportedly received another big boost when it comes to his aims to recruit this summer.

Reported target Ander Iturraspe is believed to have told Athletic Bilbao that he is leaving this summer.

El Desmarque have since revealed that the 30-year-old midfielder would be interested in a move to Elland Road.

Tigers looking to sign player from rivals

Hull City are in advanced talks with Queens Park Rangers as they aim to get a deal over the line for Matt Ingram, according to reports.

Ingram didn’t feature for QPR last season in the Championship but City want to make the 25-year-old their first signing of the summer.

Bristol City battling Tigers

Another Hull City related rumour and the Tigers are battling Bristol City for the signature of Colchester’s Sammie Szmodics.

The 23-year-old midfielder bagged 14 league goals in League Two last season and is courting interest plenty, with Bristol City and the Tigers fighting for the £600K-rated player.
