Meghan Markle‘s estranged father Thomas Markle spoke out about not being invited to grandson Archie Harrison’s christening on Saturday, telling the Mail on Sunday he “would have enjoyed being there.”
“I have been asked if I would have liked to have gone to Britain to see my new grandson being christened,” Thomas, 74, told the outlet.
“I was an altar boy at age 12, a confirmed member of the Queen’s church at age 14, and Archie is my new grandson, so of course I would have enjoyed being there for the blessing, wishing Archie and his parents health and happiness,” the former lighting director continued.
Following the private ceremony, which took place at Windsor Castle, Meghan, 37, and husband Prince Harry, 34, released a few photos from the intimate affair on Instagram.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy to share the joy of this day with members of the public who have been incredibly supportive since the birth of their son,” the caption stated.
Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, appeared in the family portrait, in addition to Prince Charles and wife Camilla Parker Bowles. Prince William and Kate Middleton were also in attendance, as well as Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, the sisters of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.
“Their Royal Highnesses feel fortunate to have enjoyed this day with family and the godparents of Archie,” the post continued.
Thomas, who previously claimed he had been “frozen out” by the royal family, famously skipped Meghan’s wedding to Harry last May amid fallout stemming from a staged photo scandal. Samantha Markle, Meghan’s half-sister, later took responsibility for the incident.
