The movie “Good Boys,” is shattering box office expectations.
The film could make a total of $20.8 million on opening weekend, Variety reported. Friday night’s premiere brought in $8.3 million alone in ticket sales.
Apparently, experts only expected a yield of $12 to $15 million, says the entertainment source.
“Good Boys” is now the first R-rated comedy to come in number one since 2016’s “The Boss.” Variety says that if ticket sale numbers stay on this trend, “Good Boys” could be the best original comedy opening of the year.
Produced by comedy kings Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg, the movie stars 12-year-olds despite its mature rating.
”Good Boys” tells the hilarious tale of three middle school boys who get into trouble after they’re invited to their first kissing party.
Jacob Tremblay, Keith L. Williams and Brady Noon play the leads.
Many will recognize Tremblay from his critically acclaimed role in the 2015 drama “Room,” in which he starred alongside Brie Larson. The flick was nominated for “Best Picture” at the Academy Awards that year. The youngster took home a Critics Choice Award for his portrayal.
