Weekly Buzz: The Flyers 2019-20 Regular Season Is Underway – Broad Street Buzz

This week’s serving of Broad Street Buzz content you might have missed.

The Philadelphia Flyers started their week abroad, and nobody seemed to enjoy their time in Switzerland more than Gritty.

The Flyers finished out their 2019-20 preseason schedule by taking on Lausanne HC for the NHL Global Series Challenge.

We’re going to ignore the result of that contest. Here are three players who stood out for Philadelphia.

The battle for the sixth defensive spot has surprisingly been a heated one throughout Training Camp, but Robert Hagg getting the position would be a mistake by the team.

Philadelphia cut Joel Farabee and Philippe Myers from their Opening Night roster, which wasn’t fun, but at least one of them should be back in the near future.

Rounding out our 2019-20 Player Expectations series, Myers may have failed to make the Opening Night squad, though he should still see more time in the NHL than he did last year.

The regular-season was fast approaching, so let’s take a look at a couple of predictions for the Flyers in the new campaign.

The Flyers officially named their Alternate Captains, with one them wearing the “A” for the first time during the Philadelphia tenure.

HOCKEY IS BACK! After a disappointing 2018-19 campaign and an eventful offseason, we’ll finally see what the Flyers are made of.

Carter Hart was highlighted as a player to watch for the Orange and Black as they took on the Chicago Blackhawks in Prague.

Guys. Travis Konecny. He’s a good one. The 2015 first-rounders’ two-goal performance led the Flyers to a 4-3 season-opening victory over Chicago.

The Flyers Top-6 forward group dominated the game from start to finish and were put under the spotlight in our Game Breakdown series.

Philadelphia’s next game is their home opener against the New Jersey Devils, which should be an emotional one as Wayne Simmonds will return to the Wells Fargo Center for the first time since being traded in February.
