Prince Harry And Other Celebrities Speaking Up On World Mental Health Day – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

A cause that’s very near and dear to Prince Harry‘s heart is that of mental health awareness. The Duke of Sussex has made it his mission to speak out about what has been considered a very taboo subject. Here’s what he and many other celebrities are talking about on World Mental Health Day.

Prince Harry

This is a cause that matters a lot to Prince Harry. After losing his mother, Princess Diana, when he was just a child, Harry struggled. He has said that, at one point, his life was “total chaos.” Harry’s rebellious years were captured by the tabloids, which couldn’t have helped.

Now, he’s speaking out about the importance of mental health. Harry gave a speech today, in which he said to the public, “You need to know that part of being strong and tough is having the courage to ask for help when you need it.” He continued, saying, “Becuase asking for help was one of the best decisions that I ever made.”

Ed Sheeran

In addition to the public appearances he made for World Health Day, Prince Harry also prerecorded something for the masses. Along with fellow British redhead, singer Ed Sheeran, he made a funny but informative PSA in which there was some confusion as to what the subject matter is.

Though Sheeran appears unaware in the video, he clearly is on board to support the cause. He shared it on his Instagram, along with a list of resources, writing, “There’s no need to suffer in silence – share how you’re feeling, ask how someone is doing and listen for the answer, be willing to ask for help when you need it, and know that we are all in this together.”

Kate Walsh

It’s not just the English that are focused on this issue. American actress Kate Walsh posted the above photo of herself to attract attention, before sharing an important message.

The Private Practice and The Umbrella Academy star wrote, “Remember to take things at your own page, stick it through to the end, and embrace all that you are and all that you aren’t.” Walsh added, “Sending you lots of love today.”

John Legend

Never one to sit on the sidelines when there’s an important cause to be addressed, John Legend also had an announcement to make. He’s working with Live Nation to create a new program, called Your Tour Support, in order to help those who tour and who are on tour with them get access to mental health professionals and the help they need.

“The physical and mental health of people who make their living on the road is the most important part of the show,” Legend said in the accompanying video. “Over the last few years, we’ve seen an increased number of suicides that could have been avoided with the right support systems in place.”

Kristen Bell

Actress Kristen Bell is another celebrity who has always taken the time to be honest and share what’s really going on behind the scenes, specifically when it comes to her mental and physical health. In her new cover story for Women’s Health Magazine, she speaks about these topics at length.

In the interview, Bell speaks about taking an SSRI, using CBD oil for anxiety and stress, and even just how she deals with the daily struggle to get out of bed sometimes. “You just have to do the next right thing,” she said. “You just stand up. That’s the next right thing. Then you brush your teeth. That’s the next right thing. It’s very one-step-at-a-time.”
