‘The Sky Is Pink’ box office collection early estimates: The Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar starrer op – Times of India

Shonali Bose directorial ‘The Sky Is Pink’ starring Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar in the lead roles has opened to low occupancy. The film marks the return of Priyanka in Bollywood after three years since her last film ‘Jai Gangaajal’ in 2016. This is also the second film in which Farhan and Priyanka reunite after their first film together ‘Dil Dhadakne Do.’

As per the latest report on the Boxofficeindia.com, the film has opened to a poor opening of around 10% as it has nothing for mass or even the urban youth. The film also lacks the star power and the music could not push the film. However, the film can make ground in the evening as the film seems more for the evening crowd.

The opening is better than the last few Farhan Akhtar films like ‘The Fakir Of Venice’, ‘Lucknow Central’, and ‘Rock On 2’.

The film is expected to make ground in the metro multiplexes as it hardly holds any appeal for the wider audience or massy circuits. It is to be seen how much of growth the film can put up on weekends and post that how will it hold from Monday onwards.

Currently, the box office is dominated by the Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff starrer action thriller ‘War’. The film is collecting better than the ‘The Sky Is Pink’ in premium multiplexes in metro cities which is the target audience of the film. ‘War’ is expected to churn out good numbers on the weekend.

Joaquin Phoenix starrer ‘Joker’ has held up strongly on its second Friday and has hardly shown a drop from Thursday. The film has been released on English only and could be the highest grosser ever for a film releases in English only in India. Hollywood classic ‘Titanic’ remains by far the biggest English language only hit in India.

‘The Sky Is Pink’, directed by Shonali Bose, is based on the incredible love story of a couple spanning 30 years, told through the lens of their teenage daughter. The film also marks Priyanka’s Hindi production debut and also stars Zaira Wasim and Rohan Saraf. The film hit the screens on October 11.
