After last week’s story reviewing current construction sites and incoming businesses, readers had more construction questions.

Reader question: Is something going in behind Kwik Trip and the new Culver’s on Richmond?

Answer: This is one of two construction sites along Richmond Street in the vicinity of Meijer.

The first one, mentioned last week, is the construction site directly in front of Meijer and next to its gas station. That’s the coming Jiffy Lube.

The second site is the one the reader is asking about. It’s farther north, just past Kwik Trip.

Work being done there now is road construction extending Galaxy Drive, which is the new north/south street next to Culver’s.

But there’s also a CR Structures construction trailer parked on the property.

A development project earmarked for the site is in its earliest stages.

The three-acre site was originally proposed for a tenant who later changed his mind, said Kip Golden, co-owner of CR Structures and a representative of the investment group seeking to develop the property.

The investors decided to go ahead anyway, he said, and are now talking to other potential tenants.

“We felt it was a great piece of property and there is a lot of stuff going on there around it,” Golden said.

At the moment, the land is still owned by Grand Chute, but the investment group has an agreement with the town.

“They have an exclusive option on the property,” said Golden. “They have not purchased to date.”

The building they want to build is a 14,000-square-foot, multi-tenant strip with its address on Galaxy Drive, parallel to Richmond Street. There are no signed tenants so far.

“If we can get that going, we’ll start construction in the spring,” Golden said.
