Megyn Kelly makes her return to journalism on Instagram, interviews fired CBS staffer – USA TODAY

It’s been a year since Megyn Kelly parted ways with NBC after defending Halloween blackface costumes, but the journalist is making her big return — on Instagram. 

Kelly made the announcement by joining Instagram and turning her account into a reporting platform. In a video shared Friday, the former Fox News anchor promoted an exclusive interview with the woman who was fired from CBS for allegedly leaking a video in which Amy Robach complained about how her bosses handled an interview with a Jeffrey Epstein accuser.

“Launching my Instagram with an exclusive interview of the woman just fired after the leak of a hot mic moment by ABC’s @ajrobach. But did ABC News target the right person?” Kelly captioned the post. “Follow along with me here @MegynKelly, for current stories and my insight in real time.”

In the video post, Kelly is standing in front of lighting equipment and chairs and says “I’m here on my set and we just shot a really interesting interview.” She adds that the interview will be posted to her Instagram and YouTube accounts later.

Earlier this week, the conservative website Project Veritas released a video of Robach venting that “every day I get more and more pissed” that her 2015 interview with Virginia Roberts never made the air. The video was taken while Robach was in a Times Square studio but not on the air in late August. Project Veritas says the video came from an ABC insider, but it did not identify the person.

ABC responded, saying that the interview didn’t meet its standards because it lacked sufficient corroborating evidence. Robach said she was “caught in a private moment of frustration.

Kelly made her exit from NBC when her show, ‘Megyn Kelly Today,’ was cancelled after she defended the use of blackface in Halloween costumes.

Kelly later apologized for saying that blackface was “OK when I was a kid as long as you were dressing like a character.”

But her apology wasn’t enough to keep “Megyn Kelly Today” afloat. After two days of reruns, NBC canceled her 9 a.m. hour of the “Today” show. The following Monday, her former colleagues stepped in to replace her.
