Harry, Meghan ‘Shocked’ Over One Thing in Megxit – Newser

(Newser)

Financial independence? Check. No HRH titles? Check. No roles as Commonwealth Young Ambassadors? That, sources tell TMZ, was tough for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to take as they left the royal family for Canada earlier this month. But it seems the Queen drew a line in the sand during so-called Megxit negotiations. As Commonwealth Young Ambassadors, Harry and Meghan had the job of visiting the 53 Commonwealth nations (mostly former UK territories) and “empowering young people … to tackle the problems facing their generations,” per TMZ. Sources close to the couple say they were “shocked” at having to relinquish the role.

It was so big for Meghan that she had flowers from all Commonwealth countries sewn onto her wedding dress. And their involvement in the Commonwealth is still up on their website. In other royal news, Canada and Britain are still wrestling with who will pay for Harry and Meghan’s security. “Discussions are taking place between our security officials in the RCMP and security officials in the UK as it relates to security obligations and how most appropriately to cover these security costs,” Canadian Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said Monday, per the CBC. And for die-hard royal followers, Hello! reports that Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are expected to take over Harry and Meghan’s royal duties. (Read more Royal Family stories.)
