Meghan Markle chose not to join Megxit summit, palace says – Page Six

Meghan Markle was not involved in Monday’s historic Megxit summit because she felt it “wasn’t necessary,” it was revealed Tuesday.

The Duchess of Sussex, 38, was long assumed to be phoning into the crunch talks about her family’s future role in the monarchy, though it was initially reported that she was barred from calling in over security concerns.

Buckingham Palace on Tuesday confirmed to UK media outlets that the Duchess was not involved — but insisted it was a choice made by her and husband Prince Harry.

“In the end, The Sussexes decided that it wasn’t necessary for The Duchess to join,” the palace said in a statement, according to The Sun’s royal correspondent, Emily Andrews.

Harry was, however, in regular contact with Meghan to “keep her in the loop” about the talks with his immediate family, grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, dad Prince Charles and brother Prince William, Andrews tweeted.

After getting the nod from the Queen to split his time between the UK and Canada, Harry is expected to fly out to the Great White North by the end of this week, according to the Evening Standard.

Meghan and their baby son, Archie, are already there — having left the UK just days after returning from a six-week stay in Canada for the holidays.
